Safeguarding

At Lytham Hall Park Primary School and Nursery, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We expect all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to actively share our commitment to protecting and promoting the welfare of every child in our care.

We are committed to ensuring that:

  • The welfare and best interests of the child are always our highest priority.

  • Every child — regardless of age, culture, disability, gender, language, racial origin, religious belief and/or sexual identity — is valued equally and has the right to feel safe and be protected from harm.

  • Any suspicion, concern or allegation of abuse is treated with the utmost seriousness and responded to promptly, proportionately and appropriately.

  • All adults working within our school community understand that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and that any concerns must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.

Should you have immediate concerns for the welfare or safety of a child, you must contact the police and Children's Social Care on 0300 123 6722.

At Lytham Hall Park Primary School and Nursery, the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) has overall responsibility for child protection and safeguarding, acting as the key point of contact for concerns and liaising with external agencies where necessary. Our DSL and Deputy DSLs receive specialist training every two years, with regular updates, to ensure their knowledge and practice remain fully up to date.

Early Help means providing support to children, young people and families as soon as emerging needs are identified — before issues escalate and while problems are still manageable. It’s a voluntary, family‑centred approach that helps parents/carers, children and young people get the right support at the right time.

Safeguarding Audit (Commissioned Spring 2026)

During the Spring Term 2026, our school welcomed an external safeguarding consultant, commissioned by the Local Authority, to undertake a comprehensive audit of our safeguarding processes and procedures. This provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on our practice and to showcase our strong safeguarding culture, alongside our commitment to children’s holistic development, academic achievement and wellbeing.

The audit recognised a number of significant strengths within our provision, including:

  • Children report feeling safe in school, identify trusted adults, and understand how to seek support when needed
  • The children felt that adults were visible during unstructured times.
  • Children speak positively about school life and value the enrichment opportunities available to them.
  • Staff demonstrate a strong understanding of contextual risk factors and the barriers to learning faced by pupils.
  • Staff have a clear grasp of safeguarding procedures and confidently describe the actions they would take if they suspected imminent harm or if a child disclosed that they had been harmed.
  • Staff describe the DSLs as approachable, supportive, and accessible.
  • Staff view information‑sharing processes as a strength; they feel they receive appropriate, need‑to‑know information that enables them to maintain high levels of vigilance and provide support to vulnerable children.

We are proud that the audit recognised the collective commitment of staff, governors and leaders in maintaining high standards of safeguarding practice and we remain dedicated to continuous improvement to ensure the very best outcomes for all children.
