Early Years Foundation Stage - Nursery & Reception
We are incredibly proud of our Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, which has been carefully designed to set high expectations and reflect how young children learn best: through engaging, playful experiences that spark curiosity and a love of learning.
In Nursery, our curriculum focuses on building secure relationships, developing communication and language and nurturing children’s natural curiosity through hands-on exploration. Children are encouraged to follow their interests, with adults skilfully extending learning through play and everyday experiences.
As children move into Reception, the curriculum builds on these strong foundations. Learning becomes increasingly focused, with clear progression in early literacy and mathematics, while still maintaining a play-based, engaging approach that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence. This ensures that children are well-prepared for the transition into Key Stage 1.
Throughout both Nursery and Reception, children benefit from weekly Forest School and outdoor learning experiences, where they explore and discover the natural world first-hand. These opportunities ignite curiosity about the world around them, while also fostering resilience, independence and a deep connection with nature.
